Daughter – "Doing The Right Thing"

"Doing The Right Thing" is off Daughter's latest album 'Not To Disappear' which is due to be released January 15th 2016.This track is a lot more powerful than 'Numbers', even more so if you watch the music video that accompanies it. It tells a story and who doesn't like a story! Unfortunately this story is not a very happy one but still a powerful one.

'I'm just fearing one day soon
I'll lose my mind
Then I'll lose my mind
Then I'll lose my children
Then I'll lose my love
Then I'll sit in silence
Let the pictures soak'
The guitar accompanies Elena Tonra's voice during the chorus, creating a deeper harmony and complimenting each other's contrasts. For me this is a story about decay, of the mind, body and watching your life pass you by, just 'let the pictures soak.' Then we come to the end of our sanity:
'And when it's dark
I'll call out in the night for my mother
But she isn't coming back for me
Cause she's already gone
But you will not tell me that
Cause you know it hurts me every time you say it
And you know you are doing the right thing
You must know you are doing the right thing'
The video made for this song makes it a lot more meaningful and gave the song a face. If you plan on listening to this track I'd recommend watching the video along with it, (but you might need to have a tissue at the ready!)
